An accountable servant leader for one of the Platform Engineering teams in the Hosting Platform group. Ensures that products and services owned by his/her team meet functional and performance levels, are reliable and fulfil security and operational readiness requirements. Builds and matures Platform engineering function and ensures deliveries through strong focus on collaboration and execution, while supporting engineers to have constant skills growth and be high performers. Direct people & hiring manager for the team, focused on guiding people in their career path. Defines ways of working in alliance with the Hosting Platform area and all Mambu’s Tribes to enable high autonomy, high alignment and streamlined production support.

What you’ll do

  • Build and mature platform engineering team in Hosting Platform group:

    • Work together with Product Engineering and Product Management to innovate, design, deliver and mature Public Cloud Services based platform offering drive security, reliability and operational excellence agenda of the team owned products/services
    • Co-own the team roadmap with the Technical Product Manager and Tech Lead
    • Build your own platform engineering team: everything from choosing the talents to deciding on the best ways of working and build a high performing, mature, dynamic, pro-active team with clear accountability and strong ownership level.
    • Embrace the change. Evolve the platform engineering team as Mambu continues to grow and pick new quests.
    • Be a true leader for the team, pay attention to each team member, help them grow and succeed.

    Be a representative of the team in a wider context

    • Interact with different levels of stakeholders inside and outside of the organisation.
    • Drive team owned services/products agenda with respective external service providers and 3rd parties
    • Actively participate in customer facing meetings and discussions when needed
    • Build close interaction with teams using and supporting platform services introduced by the team
    • Be a role model actively representing the team and Mambu in external events and activities

    Capacity & skills are ahead of team needs

    • Hiring manager for the team’s/capability needs, ensuring team capacity to achieve expected outcomes.
    • Define recruiting strategies to acquire new skills or create capacity to satisfy business needs, longevity, skills diversity, attrition mitigation and competitiveness at team level.
    • Ensure teams are built up only by Mambuvians aligned to our company values, engineering goals and required set of skills.
    • Assure competency/seniority balance and spread to facilitate technical and delivery sustainability.

    Engineers have constant growth and clear career path

    • Create personalised career development plans for engineers and guide them in achieving both personal & organisation goals.
    • Create and maintain (together with Hosting and Reliability Tribe leadership), grading/promotion process that ensures Tribe wide consistency, along with fair and motivating compensation.
    • Establish holistic coaching and mentorship principles and ensure each team member receives fair & just-in-time feedback.
    • Facilitate relevant learning and skills growth for each engineer (training, conferences, learning materials, mentors etc.).

    Way of working enables teams’ high autonomy, high alignment


    • Define and apply modern team/engineering practices to unlock high value in building highly performing and mature platform engineering team
    • Identify impediments and apply ways to overcome them.
    • Connect with other teams and stakeholders to provide visibility & transparency to current progress and agree on next objectives.

    Onboardings are efficient & scalable

    • Design an efficient onboarding process for new colleagues (new Mambuvians or people transitioning from other teams/areas/tribes).
    • Ensure new members are aligned to our values and culture & their skills and development plans are aligned with the team they are part of.
    • Capture & deliver on-time feedback about the people in on-boarding and monitor actions/corrections.


    Advertise Mambu culture and way of working


    • Constantly communicate internally and with each individual about our direction and beliefs.
    • Speaker at meetups, conferences to advertise Mambu, in order to attract talent and contribute to the community.

  • Proactive Attitude: Suggests and implements changes based on “connecting the dots” on things that come up repeatedly to find elegant solutions for them in close collaboration with the teams.
  • Calm under pressure: Maintains stable performance and can-do attitude when under pressure or stress. Prepares team with fire drill exercises to do the right thing when there is fire.
  • Honesty & integrity: Does not cut corners with regards to ethics. Earns trust and maintains confidence. Does what is right. Speak plainly and truthfully.
  • Hands-on experience in establishing and/or re-organisingteams.
  • Experience in infrastructure or application engineering.
